Join us for a weekend of birding in Northern Harney and Southern Grant Counties from Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, June 11.
When birders think of Harney County, they most likely think of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Birders leave most of Harney County north of Burns unexplored. Join us as we bird north of Burns across scenic southern Grant County, which includes Summit Prairie and the lush Silvies Valley. Bobolinks, Sandhill Cranes, Northern Goshawks and Flammulated Owl are all possibilities!
Itinerary and Registration
The headquarters for the Northern Harney and Southern Grant County Birding Blitz is TBA. We will meet each morning or preceding evening to assign areas, coordinate efforts, and exchange information.
On the mornings of June 7-11, we will break into groups and count birds in and near assigned Oregon2020 Hotspot Squares. Teams can spend the rest of the day chasing rarities or exploring interesting looking habitats.
This will be a free event. However, participants will be responsible for their own accommodations and meals. We recommend booking accommodations at nearby lodging and camping as early as possible.

Would you like to join us? Please help us plan by registering in advance (below).
Please specify if you would like to meet prior to surveys and/or if you have preferred birding areas or teams. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. We look forward to seeing you there!
